[Player and Coach Comments]

Although it is a difficult situation with a series of injuries, we will stop the losing streak with an all-out effort.

Sec. 16 of the league, Júbilo Iwata will face off away. In the previous match, they suffered their 5th defeat of the season with no goals scored, unable to break through Kashiwa's solid defense. The only goal conceded was from a set piece, but without scoring, they cannot achieve victory. Despite the short preparation period of only 2 days, they aim to improve the accuracy and judgment of their play and strive for a goal in this match. Since the break, they have had 1 win and 2 losses, so they are aiming to secure 3 points even in an away game.

Iwata, who is currently one point behind Tokyo, is in 6th place. This season, under new coach Morishita, they have maintained a good start to the league with a style of taking action themselves. However, after the break, they have suffered from injuries like Tokyo and have lost three consecutive official matches. However, their total goals in the league so far are 31, which is the highest (tied with Sendai). Based on their abundant physicality, they press from the front to steal the ball and their attack, led by the Japanese national team's forward Maeda, is a major threat. In addition, they have many crosses, especially from DF Komano, and side attacks are also Iwata's weapon.

Tokyo, like the previous match, is still in a situation where Kajiyama, Ishikawa, and Hanyu are absent due to injury. We must approach this as a united front. Takahashi said, "In the Kashiwa match, there were times when I rushed too much forward, and on the other hand, the passes in the midfield didn't connect, and I didn't enter the front from the defensive midfield position very often. When the ball goes to Lucon, I will try to support while balancing with Yone and aim to move up to a position where I can take a shot." After carrying the ball to the front line, the key is how well we can switch and coordinate.

A match that attracts attention on how to recover from the bitter defeat of the previous match. Although it is a consecutive match, we want to take the initiative by exerting our energy and starting well. Without being mentally passive, we will show Tokyo-style soccer and take the goal and victory. The match started with Tokyo's kickoff at 19:03 at Yamaha Stadium.

Conceding a goal early on and unable to find their rhythm, the first half ended

Both teams cautiously started the game, but Iwata managed to convert their first chance into a goal. In the 6th minute, they lost the ball to the opponent in their own half and conceded a left cross. The ball then flowed to the opposite side and was cleared, but once again it was passed to the opponent, and Iwata's midfielder Kosuke YAMAMOTO delivered a fast right cross to midfielder Shuto YAMAMOTO, who perfectly headed it into the center of the goal, resulting in an early goal against us. Despite keeping possession in the midfield, we made a mistake and were countered, allowing forward Maeda to take a shot, but we managed to hold on by putting our bodies on the line until the end.

Tokyo also started with Tokunaga on the right side in the 18th minute, Hasegawa -> Yonemoto changed the opponent's DF with timing in front of the area and took a good shot, but it curved to the left. Still, Iwata, who was on a roll, had a fast start and grasped the rhythm from a tough press, while Tokyo couldn't connect the ball. In the 29th minute, Morishige pushed up, releasing Iwata's press and trying to regain the rhythm with a long-range shot, but the shot missed widely. In the 32nd minute, they got a FK slightly to the left in the opponent's territory, but Tanihara's kick was cleared.

In the 45th minute, Iwata lost the ball in a competition on the front line and allowed the opponent to pick up the second ball, resulting in a wave-like attack. In the end, Iwata FW Yamazaki brought the ball into the right area and took a shot, but Gonda made a save. Tokyo was able to steal the ball and circulate it through players like Yonemoto and Takahashi, but they struggled to connect passes in the vital area due to Iwata's intense press. They also couldn't create attacking opportunities as their vertical passes were easily read. The first half ended without being able to form an attacking shape.

Satoru KAWANO marks his first goal after transferring, but loses with 3 goals conceded at the end of the game

In the second half, Hasegawa and Tanabe changed positions and put pressure on the opponent's goal. In the 49th minute, they intercepted the opponent's clearance and connected it to Tanabe in the center, who passed it to Yuzawa on the left side. Yuzawa managed to evade the opponent and sent a cross. Lucas from the far side chased after the ball and headed it towards the goal, but it went wide. In the 54th minute, Yuzawa made a run behind the defense after receiving a ground pass from Tanabe, but the pass was slightly too long... and the Iwata goalkeeper caught it first.

In the 56th minute, Mori Shige jumped out to head the kick sent by Tanizawa between the goalkeeper and the defender from the free kick. It was a decisive opportunity, but it narrowly went over the bar. In the 60th minute, Hasegawa in the center ran to the right front line after receiving a through pass from Takahashi and entered the area. He turned his body towards the goal and took a shot, but it went wide and hit the side net. Tokyo is holding onto the ball and attacking, but they are unable to convert their chances. Iwata's counterattacks are also dangerous, and they continue to quickly bring the ball to the front line without missing Tokyo's mistakes.

In the 63rd minute, Watnabe was substituted for Lucas. In the 67th minute, Hasegawa made a forward through pass from Gonda's goal kick. Watnabe tried to break through behind the defense, but the pass was too long and went out of bounds. However, in the 70th minute, Miyazaki, the Iwata MF on the left side, dribbled into the penalty area from a big side change and unleashed a sharp kick from an angleless position that went into the net on the opposite side... Tokyo concedes the second goal. In the 84th minute, a corner kick led to a powerful header by DF Cho Byung-kuk from a right cross, resulting in the third goal conceded.

In the 89th minute, Tokyo's substitute player Satoru KAWANO intercepted the opponent's defender's clearance in the left area, swung his left foot after controlling the ball with his chest, and scored a goal. In injury time, a free kick was awarded from just outside the right area. Watanabe perfectly headed the ball from KAWANO's kick, but it went wide of the goal... Despite attempting a comeback until the end, the final whistle blew, signaling a difficult defeat with 3 goals conceded as Iwata consistently took the initiative in both attack and defense. KAWANO scored his first goal after transferring, but it was a tough loss.

【Player Comment】《Kawano》"(About the first goal) I took a little too long to score... But personally, I think it had meaning. I felt that if we could score one point, we could ride the momentum. I think we will be able to score goals from here on out. (Do you want to play a little further up?) I do have the desire to play further up, but it's different from the soccer that the team should play. Especially today, everyone was tired when they entered the game, so I was thinking of dropping back, receiving the ball, and participating in the build-up. I don't think I've been able to show my own play yet, but before I can do the play I want to do, there are plays that I have to do first. If my playing time extends, I think both my strengths and team play will change and I will be able to show them."

"I don't think what we are trying to do is wrong. We must not waver. We conceded a goal in the first half today, but it's the worst if we can't turn it around from there. We want to play our football with courage. However, it is absolutely necessary to improve our accuracy and quality. (Tabei played as an attacking midfielder, and it seemed to function as one formation?) I think the combination of Kaji-kun and Lucon has been one of Tokyo's characteristics so far. Today, Lucon was often isolated, and instead of playing with about two touches as before, it ended up being a situation where he had to keep the ball. It is also a challenge to figure out what to do when the opponent retreats, but more importantly, it is a repetition of losing the ball by rushing and putting in vertical passes too quickly. I think it is also necessary to create a tempo in the midfield."

【Summary of Coach Popovich's Press Conference】"There's not much to say after a 1-3 defeat. It's a painful loss when you look at the result, but if you watch the game, you'll see that it wasn't that bad and there wasn't much of a gap in the score. Sometimes, you need luck in order to win games, but today we were also let down by luck, and the opponent scored with their first shot on target, while we created several clear chances but couldn't convert them. In regards to today's match, I feel that if we had been able to score in the crucial moments, the game would have had a different outcome, and we fell into a negative cycle of conceding goals to the opponent at opportune times."

I want to fix the issues that came up in the game and improve the quality. I feel that there are still players who need to raise their game. However, I can't say that I am completely satisfied with today's performance. We were in control throughout the game and created several clear chances. It wasn't a completely unsatisfactory game."

[Summary of Iwata Morishita's press conference] "Yesterday, we asked the media to come to the stadium and support the players, and it really happened. I think the players gained courage from that. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude. As for the game, today the players were like warriors, not just players, and they fought well, recovering from the Sendai match. (What was the intention of putting MF Fujita in the defensive midfield position?) It was amazing. Even though he hasn't played in that position much, he showed the attitude of pushing forward with courage as a message. I am grateful for that. (Was the midfield formation today a strategy against Tokyo?) I haven't watched any videos and haven't prepared any strategies at all. It was only about what we would do. That was the only thing we asked the players to focus on."
