[Player and Coach Comments]
Kazunori YOSHIMOTO player
(Looking back on today's match)
"The result was disappointing and it's frustrating that we couldn't score an away goal. We want to think about what is necessary to advance and prepare for the second match."
(What challenges did you see today?)
"After conceding two goals, we were able to attack well in a short amount of time. We need to extend the duration of our attacks and we also need to score the next goal. We discussed this as a team, so we want to be conscious of that."
(I felt like we were able to hold on until the end at Yoshimoto's place)
"In the end, we had to go for an away goal and it became an open game. But I think I was able to play my own style in that kind of situation. It's a really tough result, but it's not over yet. Next, we have to score two or more goals without conceding to win."
(After the match, he spoke to his teammates)
"I can't give up, and I don't think it's impossible. There's no point in regretting what's already done, so I want to switch gears and keep going."
"Yoshito OKUBO"
(It seemed like we couldn't attack well, right?)
"Even when I and Utaka opened up the space on the side, other players couldn't come in there easily. The work rate of Yone and Kento in the inside half is really amazing, and I think it's really tough. So, it might be a bit harsh to say this to those two, but if we can come in there, we can create a numerical advantage. Right now, it's becoming a 1v1 or 3v3 situation, so we can't break through unless we are much better than the opponent. I think we can play soccer by breaking through with numbers, and I believe we have the players for that."
(The second match will be a situation of 0-2)
"Because I still don't know, I just have to prepare well for the second match and face it."
"Summary of Yoshiyuki SHINODA's press conference"
"We ended the first match with a result of 0-2, so we have to win by a difference of two or more goals at home. As for today's game, there was a bit of a sluggish start, but I think we were able to progress without giving the opponent any space. However, we need to reflect on the fact that we made the same slow development in the attack."
There were some scenes that went a little ahead in the second half, but I think we still had few opportunities to bring it to a shot. Anyway, we want to prepare together for the next one."
"Q&A"
I think until the opponent scored a goal and started to aim for a counterattack, Kawasaki Frontale didn't give many chances to the opponent. However, after conceding a goal, did you not have the intention to calmly attack without losing balance? It felt like you shifted to a considerably attacking style."
"We changed to a 3-4-3 formation and increased the number of players in the front line. There were certainly parts where we became too forward, and we must reflect on the fact that we conceded counterattacks twice or three times. While we wanted to keep the goals conceded to one and score to make it 1-1, the players actively played with the aim of scoring. However, we conceded goals in return, so I feel that the overall balance of the team was disrupted."
"Summary of Kawasaki Toru ONIKI's press conference"
"The players did their best, running well and showing great determination. Some players who don't often get a chance to play were given an opportunity to show their performance to the supporters, and they showed their strong determination. I think it was a game that will lead to the next one."
"Q: Can you give us a word about Arai player and the defense team who finished the game without conceding a goal?"
"I really wanted to give (Shota) ARAI a chance because he is a player who always works hard in training. I think his hard work paid off and he is also a mood maker, so I think the team can ride on this momentum and win. Also, the defense line, including ITAKURA, did a great job of not allowing the strong forward players of FC Tokyo to do their job and played well. However, I think the second game is important."
Q=In the midst of consecutive battles, player Ienaga started in the official match for 5 consecutive games. Please share your expectations and evaluation of him.
"First of all, his performance today can be summed up in one word: amazing. He played his role in the attack and also came back to defend, running and fighting for the team. This has become his standard, and now he has become an indispensable presence. We have consecutive matches now, but he is contributing to the strength of our team, so we are using him to maintain that momentum."
Q=There were scenes where the opponent's passes were cut off well in terms of defense, but was it because countermeasures were taken or because the players responded well, which one do you think?
"We only had the day before to come up with a plan. We raised awareness as a team, but ultimately the players did it while feeling the game. As for defending against the opponent's system, we have been training throughout the season, so I think the players made solid decisions during the game."
