ーDay 8ー
The players are starting to show signs of fatigue from yesterday's three games and long-term away games, but we want to overcome it together as a team for the remaining two days!
【Second Round, Second Match】
vs RC Strasbourg
First Half 0-0
Second Half 2-0
[Harushiro MATSUSHITA×2]
Total 2-0
【First Half】
Both teams aimed for each other's back from the beginning, resulting in an open game. The defense worked together, with the GK and DF line at the center, and responded well to balls aimed at their back.
Our attacking players are constantly aiming for the back, but just when we think we've switched positions, the opposing DF stretches out their legs and makes it difficult for us to create chances in front of the goal, which is not something we often experience in Japan.
Both teams ended the first half without showing any major gaps.
【Second Half】
Shortly after the start of the second half, we faced a fierce attack from the opponent and gave them a chance with a free kick. However, we defended with all our might and managed to overcome the crisis.
When the opponent's ball was taken in the midfield, Harushiro MATSUSHITA, who had quickly sent it to the front line and escaped behind, calmly passed the opponent's GK and scored.
Harushiro MATSUSHITA scores the opening goal with a quick short counter. Just 5 minutes later, Harushiro MATSUSHITA once again breaks through the opponent's defense and scores with a shot. They continue their momentum from the opening goal and add another point.
In the final round, the opponent also desperately approaches the goal, but we firmly defended and the game ended. We won 2-0 and advanced to the best 8!
[Quarterfinals]
vs FC Girondins de Bordeaux
First Half 0-0
Second Half 0-0
PK Battle 4-2
【First Half】
Both teams tried to control the ball and aimed for each other's back, but since it was a game where losing meant the end, they both stayed focused and didn't show any openings.
We are able to progress the game on the opponent's court and continue the game safely. However, neither team was able to score a goal and the first half ended.
【Second Half】
Both teams will continue to fight for possession of the ball and there will be intense battles for the ball. Gradually, we will take control of the game with good defense. We will create chances from the flow of the game, but the opposing defenders will also show desperate defense and will not let us score easily. The second half ends without either team being able to capitalize on their chances in front of goal. The match will be decided by a penalty shootout.
[PK Shootout]
If the first player here scores a powerful shot to the top right corner, the opponent's first player will hit the crossbar and miss, bringing the momentum to our side.
When the second person calmly decides, GK Rengo Kurita stops the second opponent and pulls the flow together at once. The third person decides for each other, but misses the fourth person, but the fifth person firmly decides and wins 4-2!
Successfully avenged our loss in the first round and advanced to the semifinal round.
Tomorrow, there will be a semifinal round and a final round!
We will make sure to prepare well so that we can achieve visible growth throughout this tournament and leave results behind.
There is also a live broadcast on Youtube, so please take a look and send your cheers from far away Japan!
