ラウンド16進出をかけて重要な一戦

ACLグループステージ第5戦が開催。ホーム国立にてオーストラリアのブリスベン・ロアーと対戦する。このカードの第1戦が行われたのは、まだリーグ開幕前の3月6日。そしてクラブとして初めて臨むACLでもあったが、アウェイで躍動感のあるサッカーをみせ、谷澤、長谷川が得点を重ねて快勝した。

　しかし今回の対戦にあたり、チームは現在リーグ3連敗中と決して好調とはいえず、ここにきて田邉、大竹、平山が負傷しチームを離脱。苦しい状況で迎えることになるが、ACLの順位決定の規定により、この試合で1点差以内の敗戦であればグループ2位以上が確定。ラウンド16への進出が決まる重要な試合となる。

　対するブリスベンは、先ごろAリーグ・プレーオフで優勝を果たし、シーズンを終えたばかりだ。このACLでもあきらめず、2点差以上の勝利をめざして高いモチベーションで臨んでくるはず。それに対して勝負にこだわる強い気持ちで挑み、グループ首位を維持するとともに、東京らしいサッカーをみせ、チーム浮上のきっかけにもしたい一戦だ。

　東京は、左サイドバックに椋原を起用し、渡邉がトップを、サイドは羽生と谷澤が務める布陣。また重松が今季初のベンチ入りすことになった。ブリスベンもFWエンリケが不在、第1戦とは多少メンバーを代えて、FWベザート・ベリシャを最前線に、4トップに近い4-2-1-3の布陣で臨んできた。ゴールデンウィーク期間中の平日・ナイトゲーム。残念ながら、またもや強い雨が降りしきる中、試合は東京のキックオフで19時30分にスタートした。

Tokyo Aim For Round Of 16 In Vital Game 

  F.C.Tokyo welcomed Brisbane Roar of Australia to the Tokyo National Stadium for the 5th.game of ACL group stage. The reverse fixture, the opening match of the group stage, was played on March 3rd, before the J.League season had begun and saw a thrilling performance by Tokyo earn a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Yazawa and Hasegawa. 

 However, Tokyo were currently far from peak form having lost three straight league games and were without the injured Otake, Tanabe and Hirayama. The side was in a difficult position but even so, a defeat by a single goal would mean a definite top-two finish in the group. It was therefore an important game in deciding Tokyo's progress to the last 16. 

 Opponents Brisbane had recently won the A-League Playoff and had been crowned champions. Although their domestic season was at an end they still had faint hopes of advancing in the ACL, needing to win by a two-goal margin to retain any possibility. The visitors would be highly motivated and Tokyo would have to call on their strength of character to retain top-spot in the group and put in a performance to revive their recent fortunes. 

 Mukuhara started at right back for Tokyo, with Watanabe as lone striker, supported by Hanyu and Yazawa on the flanks. Striker Shigematsu made his first appearance of the season on the bench. Brisbane were without forward Enrique and showed several changes from the side that started the first meeting between the teams. Striker Berisha was the most advanced player in an attacking 4-2-1-3 formation. The game was an evening kick off during the Golden Week holiday season. Disappointingly, the weather was again appalling, with torrential rain and a strong wind lashing the stadium on an unseasonably cool evening. 

先制を許すが、すぐさま高橋のミドルで追いつき、椋原、渡邉が加点

試合は立ち上がりに動いた。4分、ブリスベンに右サイドからのFKを与えると、FWブロイヒが中に送り、FWベリシャがヘディング。右ポストに当たって跳ね返ったボールを再びFWベリシャに詰められ……早くもセットプレーから失点。与えたくない先制点を与え、出端をくじかれることになってしまった。

　しかし慌てることなく、すぐさま反撃に出た東京。直後の5分には、渡邉が右サイドを抜け出し、クロスを入れる。一度は相手DFに阻まれるが、中央でクリアボールに詰めた梶山がシュート。再びブロックされるが、こぼれに走り込んだ高橋が豪快なミドルを放つ。これがポストをかすめてゴール内側に吸い込まれ、すぐさま同点に追いついた！

　これで自分たちのリズムをつかんだ東京。パスをつないで前に出ようとするブリスベンに対して、前線からプレスをかけて奪い、早いパスワークから攻め込んだ。20分には自陣で、長谷川が相手のマークをはがして前進。絶妙のタイミングで右前線に抜け出した渡邉にボールが渡ると、そのまま前に持ち込み、右エリアからクロス。ボールはゴール前の混戦を抜けて、左エリアまで走っていた椋原のもとへ。椋原が落ち着いて放ったシュートは、確実にネットを揺らしてGOAL!!　勝ち越しに成功する。

　だが、ブリスベンもここでくじけることなく、33分には右サイドの裏に抜け出したFWブロイヒにスルーパスを通される。FWブロイヒに中へ持ち込まれてシュート体勢に入られ、一度は森重がブロックしたが、このこぼれをネット左隅に突き刺され………同点に追いつかれることに。

　その後、互いに攻め合う中、43分には徳永のパスからエリアに進入しようとした渡邉がファールを受けて、PKを獲得。44分、このPKを渡邉自身が落ち着いて決める。両者合わせて5得点が決まる中、前半終了間際に勝ち越しに成功して、後半へと折り返すことになった。

Tokyo Overturn Early Deficit 

 The game burst into life in the 4th.minute. Brisbane won a free kick out on the right, forward Broich hoisted the ball into the penalty area and Berisha smacked a header against the right-hand post. The ball rebounded back to Berisha and he stroked it past Gonda to open the scoring. It was the worst possible start for Tokyo, surrendering the lead with the game barely begun. 

 However, the hosts remained composed and looked to fight back immediately. Moments after the restart Watanabe raced down the right and hoisted a cross into the Brisbane penalty area; the ball was partially cleared but only as far as Kajiyama in a central position. Kajiyama shot but his effort was blocked; Takahashi sprinted forward from midfield to meet the bounding ball and hammer a low drive that beat keeper Theoklitos, hit the inside of the left post and then the back of the net. Tokyo had reclaimed parity less than a minute after falling behind. 

 The goal lifted the hosts who quickly found their rhythm and pressed hard from the front to regain possession from Brisbane before launching attacks of their own. In the 20th.minute Hasegawa slipped his marker in midfield and pushed forward, then rolled the ball down the right flank to meet Watanabe's perfectly-timed run through the Brisbane defence line. Watanabe took the ball on then drove a low cross into the penalty area which evaded the scrum of players in the goalmouth but was met with a composed, first-time finish by Mukuhara on the left. Theoklitos stood no chance as Mukuhara swept the ball low inside the post to give Tokyo the lead. 

 Brisbane weren't intending to go down without a fight and clawed their way back into the game in the 33rd.minute. Forward Broich ducked through the Tokyo defence on the right, ran onto a through ball and let fly. Morishige managed to block the shot but the ball ran loose and Broich made no mistake with his second attempt, firing past Gonda to tie the score at 2-2. 

 The game continued to ebb and flow until the 43rd.minute when Watanabe received a pass from Tokunaga and burst into the Brisbane area on the right. He went down under a challenge and the referee pointed to the spot. Watanabe picked himself up and dispatched the penalty with minimum fuss, hard and low into the corner of the goal. Tokyo had their noses in front again, a lead they held until half time. 

点の取り合いを制し、グループステージ無敗で2位以内が確定

後半も互いに自分たちのサッカーを仕掛け合う展開に。東京はラストのところでタイミングやパスが合わず、ブリスベンに守られる時間が続いたが、スピーディにパスを回し、縦パスからのチャレンジを続けた。それが実ったのは60分のこと。高橋、長谷川がつないで前に運び、谷澤のラストパスから、左エリアの渡邉が冷静に狙い澄ましたシュートを決めてゴール！　2点差をつけた。

　それでもブリスベンはあきらめることなく、67分までに3枚の交代カードを使い、反撃に出る。これに対して東京は、雨の影響もあるのか、疲労もみえはじめ、徐々にスピードや精度が落ち、ブリスベンの支配を許すことに。そのため、73分には渡邉に代えてルーカスを、78分には羽生に代えて米本をサイドに投入。85分には梶山に代わり石川がイン。選手交代を使って対抗しようとした。

　後半ロスタイムにはブリスベンのシュートがバーを叩く場面もあったが、それでも一丸となって追加点は許さず戦い抜き、激しい点の取り合いを制してタイムアップ。これによりグループステージ5試合を無敗で勝ち点11を積み上げ、グループ2位以内が確定。クラブとして初挑戦となるACLで、ラウンド16への進出を決めた。

Tokyo Extend Lead, Guaranteed At Least Second In Group 

 The second half proceeded as a battle of contrasting styles. Tokyo were unable to find either the correct timing or accuracy for the final ball and were pushed back by Brisbane but continued to move the ball around quickly and pass it straight up the field. The tactic bore fruit in the 60th.minute as Takahashi and Hasegawa combined to move the ball up the field to Yazawa, who played a delightful through ball out to Watanabe on the left. Watanabe finished with considerable aplomb past Theoklitos and Tokyo had a two-goal cushion. 

 To their credit Brisbane refused to throw in the towel and used their quota of substitutions by the 67th.minute, the fresh legs bolstering an attempted comeback. Tokyo began to show signs of fatigue, perhaps influenced by the relentless rain, and both their speed and accuracy dropped, allowing the visitors to dominate possession. In response Tokyo replaced Watanabe with Lucas in the 73rd.minute, Hanyu with Yonemoto in the 78th. and Kajiyama with Ishikawa in the 85th. 

 Brisbane struck the bar in added time at the end of the half but that was as close as they came to narrowing the deficit and the final whistle blew on a hard-fought 4-2 win. After 5 games Tokyo were unbeaten and had amassed 11 points, a total that guaranteed the side at least a second-place finish in the group. F.C.Tokyo had qualified for the Round Of 16 in their first appearance in the ACL. 

【選手コメント】《渡邉》「裏に抜け出すことやスピードには自信があるし、監督からも『相手の背後を取れ』と言われていた。僕が背後を取ると、みんなが前向きになれる。特に1、2点目はその狙いどおりの形。(全得点に絡む活躍だったが？)これまでアシスト役はあまりなかったし、中央のイメージが強いのかもしれないが、サイドに流れることも決して不得意ではない。クロスからのチャンスという意味では、自分のプレーの幅が広がると思っている。これで満足することはない。これからも全試合に出場したいという思いもあるし、出場したときには必ずゴールを取ってチームに貢献できるプレーをしたいという気持ちが強い。チャンスを活かせるように頑張りたい」

　《椋原》「(得点について)中央で長谷川選手が相手を引きつけてくれて、もしかしたらファーに流れてくるかもしれないと考えていた。そのとおりにボールがきたが、時間があったので、落ち着いてニアを狙うことを考えていた。自分としては、チャンスをもらった試合で何かを残したかったし、なによりチームが勝たないと！…と思っていた。その中で結果を出して、自分もいるぞというアピールをしたかった。ただ、失点が続いているし、DFの連係では課題が残る」

　【ポポヴィッチ監督の会見要旨】「両チームともに素晴らしい試合をした。魅力的で攻撃的なサッカーをしたので、観にきていただいた方たちにも喜んでもらえたのではないか。この悪天候の中、多くのファン・サポーターに足を運んでいただいたが、結果と内容でお返しができたと思う。サッカーというのはいつも自分たちの思い通りになることはなく、苦しい状況や困難なこともある。ただ、そのようなときでも自分たちがやっていることや力を信じて突き進み、貫くことが大切だと私は感じている。今日の試合も、自分たちが信じてやってきたことが表現できたと思うし、素晴らしい試合になった。アジアの舞台で日本を代表して戦い、ラウンド16進出を得られたこと、そしてこのようなサッカーを展開して結果を得られたことは、日本のサッカーを背負って戦う立場として、非常によいものをみせられたと思うし、これからも日本代表として継続してよい試合をしていきたい。

　(監督としての評価も上がるのでは？)私個人のイメージアップよりも、クラブが一つになってアジアの舞台で東京のサッカーを発信していきたい。私が最初から言い続けていることは、東京というブランドを作りたいということ。ただ、そのためには時間が掛かる。重要なことはもちろん結果で、誰もが結果を出したいと思っているし、過密日程の中でも結果を出さなければいけない。ただ、長いシーズンの中で、結果が付いてこないときもあるはずだが、大事なことは信じて戦うこと。私は自分のチームや選手を信じているし、迷ってはいけない。私がやるべきことは早くチームを成熟させて、レベルを上げていくこと。そしてシーズン当初のような試合をして、結果を出し続けることだと思っている」

Watanabe 
"I have confidence in my pace and ability to get behind the opposition and the manager told me to do just that. If I could get in behind their defence then the rest of the team could play facing forward. Our first and second goals came from positions just like that. 
Wasn't I involved in all the goals? Until now I haven't really had a role as an assister and maybe my image is of being stronger through the middle, but I don't see playing on the flanks as a weak point of my game. If I'm creating chances by putting in crosses then it means that 
I'm adding further strings to my bow. But I can't be satisfied yet. I want to play in all the games I can and when I do play I want to make a contribution to the team winning by scoring goals. I want to do my best to be able to take the chances when they come". 

Mukuhara 
"For the goal, I saw that Hasegawa had pulled a defender out of position in the middle and that if the cross came through it might reach the far post. That's exactly the way it happened. I had a little time and was able to put the ball away inside the near post. When a chance comes like that I want to take it and make an impact but the most important thing is that the team wins. I want to get the result and also put in a good performance myself. However, we're still conceding goals and issues remain regarding our defensive interplay".

"Both sides made it a terrific game tonight. It was full of attractive, attacking football and I'm sure that everyone who came thoroughly enjoyed it. I think we repaid our fans and supporters who braved the terrible weather tonight with our performance and the result. Football doesn't always go the way you want it to and sometimes you face difficult and demanding situations. However, I firmly believe that it's important to have confidence in yourselves and what you are doing in such times. In tonight's game too, I felt we were able to express ourselves on the pitch and it made for a fantastic game. We've taken on the responsibility of representing Japan on the Asian stage, earned a place in the Round of 16 by playing such football and this is a great thing for the further development of football in Japan. 
Has this also increased my reputation as a coach? Far more than improving my own image I want the club to be united and for F.C.Tokyo to express itself on the stage of Asia. However, it takes time to achieve that. The results are the important thing and everybody wants to get the results, yet we have to get the results within a very crowded schedule. Sometimes in a long season the results don't come so the important thing is to believe in what you're doing. I believe in the team and the players and can't waver at all. What I have to do is make the team mature and improve the level. We have to play the way we were at the start of the season and to continue to get the results". 

【ブリスベン・ロアー　ラド・ヴィドシッチ監督の会見要旨】「非常にゲームを楽しめた。東京との一番の大きな差はフィニッシュ・決定力。1点目を決めたところまでは良かったが、その30秒後に決められてしまったことが残念だった。ただ、ファンタスティックな東京のサポーターやクラブの人たちに『ありがとう』という言葉を伝えたい。サポーターは忠誠心があり、クラブを支えていることを非常に感じた。(来季のACLに向けて)Aリーグはまだ7年の若いリーグ。それにくらべて中国や日本、韓国は長い経験があるので、今回は私たちにとってとてもいい経験になった。オーストラリアのサッカーは、フィジカルを使ってロングボールを入れるスタイルだが、今日の我々の試合で、変わっていることも分かっていただけたのではないか。しっかりとビルドアップもするし、パスサッカーになってきている。そのような変化をすることによって、成長して形が実っていければいいと思っている」

"It was a very enjoyable game. I felt the biggest difference between the teams was Tokyo's finishing ability. We played well up until we scored the first goal so to concede just 30 seconds later was very disappointing. However, I want to say "Thank you" to F.C.Tokyo's fantastic supporters and the staff at the club. The supporters are truly loyal and I strongly felt the way they support the club. 
What about next season in the ACL? The A-League is young still, it's only seven years old. Compared to that China, Japan and Korea all have much greater experience and for us this has been a good experience. Australia has a physical, long ball style but today in our game I felt that something is changing. We built the play steadily and started to play a passing game. Variations such as these will hopefully lead to further development and bear fruit in the future".
