相性の悪さを克服して、3連勝目指す！

　J1リーグ第5節はアウェーで名古屋グランパスとの対戦。前節は2000年1stステージ以来勝ったことがなかった磐田に1-0で勝利し、3勝1分で得失点差ながら鹿島を抑えて首位をキープした。なにより磐田に勝ったことも大きいが、中2日で続く3連戦の初戦に勝ったことで、今日の名古屋戦、16日の浦和戦に、チームがいい雰囲気で試合に臨めることが出来る。

　名古屋は現在1勝2分1敗で勝点5で7位、前節は勝星がなかったC大阪に敗れており、決してチーム状態はいいとは言えない。また、2003年度得点王のFWウェズレイが第2節以降、調子を落としメンバーに入っていないことも1つの要因と言える。ただ、そこは名将ネルシーニョ監督、東京対策としてシステムを4-4-2から4-5-1に変更してきた。中盤を厚くして、東京の得意とする速い中央からサイドへの攻撃を寸断しようとする意図がうかがわれる。前節ケガで不出場の日本代表GK楢﨑の復帰も心強いところである。

　対する東京は前節に加地が左足首関節を負傷し全治約4週間と戦列を離れてしまったが、代りに藤山が入りそれ以外は前節と同じメンバーで臨む。実は名古屋との過去瑞穂陸上競技場での対戦成績は2分3敗と勝星がない。特に直近の2003年2ndステージでは2点差から逆転負け、過去10回のリーグ戦績でも2勝と相性が悪いことは否めない。ただ、磐田戦と同様、現在の東京は過去の成績うんぬんを言わせないチームの勢いがあり、勝ってこの相性の悪さを吹き飛ばしてもらいたいものである。冷たい風が吹く中、7:04pmに東京のキックオフで開始された。

Battling The Bogey Teams

The 5th. game of the season saw F.C.TOKYO travel to Nagoya to take on Grampus Eight. The first win over Jubilo in five years in the previous match had kept TOKYO top of the table, ahead of Antlers on goal difference. The win over Jubilo was doubly important as it set the mood for a potentially difficult programme of three matches in six days, with a home fixture against the Reds on the following Saturday. 
Grampus lay in 7th. place before kick off with 5 points and had struggled to their first defeat of the season in the previous game. This could perhaps be traced to the absence of 2003 Golden Boot winner Ueslei, whose sudden loss of form had led to his exclusion from the squad. Wily Grampus manager Nelsinho had eschewed his team's usual 4-4-2 for a 4-5-1 formation clearly designed to stifle TOKYO's preferred attacking mode of gaining possession in midfield and using the flanks. The return of Japan keeper Narazaki from injury boosted the home side. 
Fujiyama replaced Kaji, sidelined for at least a month with an ankle injury, in an otherwise unchanged TOKYO team. Mizuho Athletics Stadium was an unhappy hunting ground for TOKYO; they had failed to win five previous appearances there, drawing twice and losing three times. In 2003 Grampus had overturned a two goal deficit to take the three points. In fact TOKYO had only beaten Grampus twice in the ten league meetings between the two teams. However, the dramatic win over the other perennial bogey team Jubilo had heartened the team and they entered the game full of confidence. The visitors kicked off just after 7pm on a chilly evening. 

PKのチャンスも得点できず、なかなか主導権が握れない

　原監督が「相手がどういう戦術であろうと東京のサッカーをしよう」と言うように、いつも通り、中盤での競り合いを厳しくし、ボールを奪ってサイドから攻撃を仕掛けた。試合開始1分に宮沢から右サイドのルーカスにわたりシュート、4分には宮沢の左サイドでのFKからチャンスをつかみ、栗澤がペナルティエリア外からシュートと試合の入り方としては悪くなかった。

　そして12分にはルーカスへの名古屋MF本田のファールで得た左FKを宮沢がゴール前に入れると、今野にわたり、胸トラップしてシュート体勢に入ったところを、名古屋DF増川がたまらずファールで止めてPKを獲得する。これをルーカスがゴール右下を狙ってシュートするが、GK楢﨑がセーブ、絶好の先制のチャンスを逃してしまう。続いて14分には東京にとって予想外のアクシデントが起こる。なんと藤山が左膝を痛めて急きょ増嶋に交代。早くも交代カードを1枚使うこととなった。

　名古屋は東京対策を徹底してきた。中盤でのパス回しをやめて、早めにロングボールを左右のサイドに入れて、右サイドはMF中村とDF角田で、左サイドはMF本田とDF中谷で攻撃を仕掛ける。また、常に1対1の競り合いで、反則スレスレの激しいマンマークでボールを奪いにきて、奪ったらそのままカウンターで東京ゴール前に攻め込んできた。22分には、右サイドの角田からゴール前に走り込んだ本田にミドルパスを送り、そのままペナルティエリア内に進入、本田は東京DFを引きつけて、左のFWマルケスにラストパスを送るも間一髪CKに逃れる。その左CKからニアでマルケスがヘディングで合わせるも土肥がナイスセーブでゴールを許さない。

　東京も完全に主導権を握れないものの、名古屋ゴールに攻め込む。24分、左サイドにいた石川がドリブルでキープ、右サイドの増嶋に送り、そのままセンターリング。これを左ゴール前にいた戸田がシュート体勢に入るがGK楢﨑がセーブ。38分にはジャーン→戸田から右サイドのルーカスへ。中央へクロスを送るも戸田のシュートはヒットせずクリアーされる。41分は速攻から今野→栗澤とわたり、左サイドで相手DFの裏に走り込んだ今野に再度パスが出て中央に折り返すと、ゴール前に上がっていた増嶋がシュートチャンスを迎えたが相手DFにカットされる。前半終了間際の44分にも宮沢、石川と立て続けにシュートを放つもゴールを割ることは出来ず、そのまま前半を終了する。

Missed Penalty Disrupts Rhythm

"Regardless of the opponent, we'll play our own football," commented TOKYO manager Hara before kick off and, true to his word, his team began the game battling fiercely to gain posession in midfield before sweeping the ball out to the flanks. Lucas shot from Miyazawa's right wing pass in the first minute and Kurisawa fired wide following a left wing free kick in the fourth minute as TOKYO began brightly. 
TOKYO seemed set to open the scoring in the 12th. minute after the referee awarded a penalty for a foul on Konno as he shaped to shoot after neatly trapping a Miyazawa free kick on his chest. Narazaki guessed correctly though, diving low to his left to block Lucas' attempt, and a golden opportunity was wasted. To make matters worse Fujiyama was forced off the field with an ankle injury in the 14th. minute, Masushima taking his place. 
Grampus bypassed the midfield and its attendant dangers with long balls played along the flanks that allowed Nakamura and Kakudo on the right and Honda and Nakatani on the left to attack the TOKYO defence. Tight man marking and barely legal challenges regained possession and the ball was played forward as quickly as possible again. Honda took the ball to the byline inside the TOKYO area in the 22nd. minute but ran out of room after drawing the defence towards him and failed to thread the ball through to Marques. Marques met the resulting corner with a firm header at the near post but Doi pulled off a smart save. 
TOKYO had failed to seize the initiative but still managed to threaten the Grampus goal. Narazaki whipped the ball off Toda's boot in the 24th. minute following a fast break out of defence and superb crossfield pass from Ishikawa. Toda again came up short in the 38th. minute as a sharp block prevented Lucas' cross reaching him in a good position. Masushima and Konno led a rapid counter attack in the 41st. minute but the former failed to make contact with the latter's cross as the home defence again proved solid. Miyazawa and Ishikawa both had shooting opportunities in the 44th. minute but neither could convert and the first period ended scoreless. 

ミスから失点、最後まで攻撃のリズムを掴むことが出来ず敗戦

　後半に入っても、東京の攻撃に対して名古屋の守備＆カウンターの状況は変らない。東京は49分に宮沢からのロングボールを、エンドライン際で石川が折り返し、戸田→ルーカスとわたりシュート、相手DFに阻まれる。名古屋は51分左エリア内でMFクライトン→本田にわたりシュート、決定的な場面であったが土肥がファインセーブでゴールを許さない。

　東京は53分、疲れの見えた宮沢に代り梶山を投入、攻撃のリズムを変えようとする。すると54分インターセプトから石川が駆け上がり、左サイドに走り込んだ栗澤にパス。エリア内でシュートするもGK楢﨑のナイスセーブに阻まれる。58分には右CKを石川がライナー性のボールを入れるとそのまま左サイドに流れ、これを今度は増嶋が中央に折り返すと、フリーで戸田がボレーシュートを放つもゴール上に外れる。 　膠着状態が続く中、１つのミスから失点を許してしまう。61分、中盤で梶山のパスミスを奪われ、そのままカウンターに。MF中村がドリブルで攻め上がり、東京DFを引きつけて左サイドのマルケスへラストパス。これをキッチリと決められ失点を許してしまう。

　東京も攻めに転じる。65分、右から増嶋がゴール前にロビングを上げ、混戦からルーカスがシュートするも相手DFに当たる。73分には石川に代えて近藤祐を投入、人数をかけて攻めようとするも、完全に引いて守る名古屋に対して、なかなかフィニッシュまで持ち込めない。逆に名古屋FWマルケスとMF中村のコンビから、時折カウンター攻撃を仕掛けられ、危ない場面を作られるが東京DFも失点を許さず。89分にはまたもやアクシデントで茂庭が足を負傷し退場、交代枠を使い切ってしまっていたため、10人となってしまう。東京は最後まで反撃を試みるも、得点を上げられずそのまま試合終了。終始攻撃のリズムを掴めず、悔しい敗戦となった

　　【選手コメント】《戸田》「名古屋に予想以上に蹴り込まれ、試合中に対応、修正できなかったことが敗因だと思う。（ナビスコ杯の）柏とは少し質の違った放り込みで、相手のサイドバックがむやみに上がって、いちかばちか…というプレーに戸惑ってしまった。序盤に激しいプレーを受け、荒れてしまった面もある。チーム全体で落ち着こうとしたが、苛ついてしまった。ただ、この敗戦で落ち込んでいても仕方がない。すぐに切り替えることが必要」《増嶋》「交代はすでにアップをしていたので不意ではなかったが、前半はきつかった。抜かれることはなかったが、足が張っていた。後半は慣れて、早目のクロスや攻め上がりからチャンスをつくろうした。失点の場面は上がっていったところだった。リスクを負わないと点は入らないと思うが、次の課題でもある」《金沢》「攻撃のバランスがちぐはぐで、いいところが出なかったというのが事実。激しくくる相手に対して、それを跳ねのけて勝たなければいけないのだが…。相手の中盤の人数が多く感じた。守備ではCK、FKの守備を修正しなければいけない」

　【原監督の会見要旨】「アウェーでなかなか名古屋に勝てていないので、今日は勝ちたいと思ってやってきたが（相手は）あまり後ろでつながずに、予想より早めに放り込んできた。前の方に選手が残っていて、こぼれ球を拾い合うという状況になり、苦しい場面が続いた。かなり激しい競り合いになり、イエローカードも多かった。中盤で拾われてしまうと、名古屋にリズムを作られていると感じた。しかし前半の立ち上がり早くに、FKから今野がPKをもらい、ルーカスは足を痛めていたが、本人が大丈夫というので蹴らせた。あそこで決まっていればまた違った展開になっていたかも知れない。それよりもチームとしては、前節で加地がケガをして、今日また藤山がケガをしたアクシデントが痛い。ハーフタイムには中盤のバランスをしっかりとろうと話したが、バタバタしてしまったところがある。宮沢にも疲労が見えたので、コンディションのいい梶山を入れた。そこでボールが収まると思ったが、ちょっとしたミスを突かれてしまった。藤山がいないところで、増嶋もサイドの練習もさせていたが、本来センターバックということもあり、少し対応が遅れてしまった。決して悪い内容だとは思っていない。もちろん名古屋もすごい気合いできていた。勝ちたかったのはもちろんだが、茂庭も最後にケガをしてしまった。しかしまたすぐ土曜日に試合があるし、こういう苦しい時こそフレッシュな選手、他の選手の力で、次の試合に向けていい準備ができればと思う」

　【名古屋・ネルシーニョ監督の会見要旨】「スピーディで緊張感のあるゲームだった。前半はパスの質がよくなく、キープ力では優っていたが、ミスパスから危ない場面がたくさんあった。ハーフタイムにはパスを大事にすること、攻撃している時に何をしたいのか、意識をしっかり持ってはっきりしようと話した。フィニッシュか、パスか、クロスか…が曖昧だったので、はっきり意識してプレーしようという指示を出した。FC東京はカウンターを仕掛けてきていたので、こちらもカウンター狙いでいこうと。マークは前半と同じくしっかりしながら、攻撃を仕掛ける時には、大事にしてはっきりしようと話した。そしてその１つのカウンターのチャンスでマルケスの1点が生まれ、チームにとって大事な勝利となった。秋田の投入は、FC東京がロングボールを放り込んでくるだろうという予想もあり、増川も不安定なプレーだったため。楢﨑もよかったが、今日は両チームのGKが目立った試合だった」

Failure To Find Attacking Rhythm Leads To Defeat 
The second period followed the same pattern as the first. In the 49th. minute Ishikawa took Miyazawa's long ball to the byline but Lucas was unable to capitalize on the pull back as the Grampus defence smothered his effort. In the 51st. minute midfielder Claiton slipped the ball to Honda inside the TOKYO area and Doi averted a certain goal with a fine save. 
TOKYO replaced the tiring Miyazawa with Kajiyama in the 53rd. minute in an attempt to alter their attacking rhythm. In the 54th. minute Ishikawa latched onto an interception and raced forward before moving the ball over to Kurisawa on the left. Kurisawa struck firmly but Narazaki produced a fine save to deny TOKYO the opening goal. Ishikawa struck a low corner to the far side in the 58th. minute; Masushima played the ball back into the centre but Toda failed to keep his volley down and it sailed over the bar. 
The stalemate continued until a simple mistake led to the decisive moment. Kajiyama played a loose pass in midfield allowing Grampus to counter through Nakamura. Nakamura raced forward, drawing defenders to him before crossing to Marques at the far post. Marques finished cleanly and TOKYO were behind. 
TOKYO were forced onto the offensive. In the 65th. minute Masushima lobbed a high ball into the Grampus area that caused a wild melee; Lucas struck only to see his goal bound effort cannon off a defender. Yusuke Kondo replaced Ishikawa in the 73rd. minute and TOKYO threw men forward but to no avail. Grampus were content to defend in depth and counter through Marques and Nakamura, a tactic that nearly brought a second goal as the TOKYO midfield became stretched. To add insult to injury a leg injury forced Moniwa from the field in the 89th. minute leaving TOKYO to finish the game with 10 men. Despite the best efforts of the team it proved an impossible task and the final whistle blew on a disappointing loss.

Toda 
"Grampus kicked into us far more than we had expected and our inability to cope with that led to the defeat, I think. It was slightly different from the Nabisco Cup game against Reysol though; their sidebacks took a huge gamble in pushing forward so much and we were bewildered by the all-or-nothing attitude. The opening period was very rough and there were a few stormy moments. We tried to keep cool as a team but it was difficult not to be ruffled. It's no use being down over the loss though; we have to pick ourselves up and prepare thoroughly for the next game". 

Masushima 
"I was already warming up before the substitution so I was ready when the call came but the first half was very tough. I wasn't beaten but I was really stretching. I got used to the pace in the second half and tried to put in a few early crosses and support the attack. They scored while I was up the field. If you don't take a risk you can't score, though". 

Kanazawa 
"The attacking balance was uneven today and there wasn't much to praise in that performance. When an opponent comes on so aggressively we have to turn it against them to win but...I felt they really packed the midfield today. We have to improve our defending from set plays". 


F.C.TOKYO manager Hara 
"We haven't had much success against Grampus away and were really up for the game today but they didn't play the ball around at the back at all and got it forward much faster than we had expected. They left a lot of players up the field and it became a battle for the loose ball and a fairly aggressive one at that. They had a lot of yellow cards. We failed to dominate the midfield and that allowed Grampus to find their rhythm. Still, we started well and got the early penalty. Lucas had a knock but said he was capable of taking it. If it had gone in I think it would have been a different story. The team is suffering a little at the moment; last game it was Kaji that was injured and today Fujiyama. At half time we talked about maintaining the midfield balance but lost it on a few occasions in the second half. Miyazawa looked tired so I sent on Kajiyama who has been in good form recently. We thought we would be comfortable on the ball but a slight mistake led to the goal. Masushima has practiced at sideback but is essentially a centre back and was a little slow at backtracking there. I don't think we played badly today though, and Grampus were very fired up, of course. Naturally we wanted to win but then Moniwa was injured at the end of the game. There's another game coming up on Saturday and we'll do our best to prepare for that with some fresh players". 

Grampus manager Nelsinho 
"That was a fast, tense game. In the first half our passing was poor, we failed to keep possession and put ourselves under pressure with some loose balls. At half time we stressed the importance of passing accurately and having a clear picture of what we were trying to do when we were attacking. A shot, a pass or a cross; the first half was too vague. TOKYO were counterattacking so we decided to take that approach too. We aimed to maintain the close marking and attack clinically. We created a good chance from a counterattack and Marques got the goal. It's an important win for the team. We sent on Akita to counteract the expected long balls from TOKYO and also because Masukawa was looking nervous. Narazaki played well; in fact both goalkeepers had good games today".
