スピードを活かしたサッカーで、東京決戦に勝つ!!

　第28節は、アウェーゲームで東京ヴェルディ1969と対戦する。東京に本拠地を置くクラブ同士の戦いは、絶対に負けることができない。また、9月以降の6試合は、柏に敗れた後、2勝3分けと負けなしではあるものの、すっきりと勝利を果たしたい東京決戦。リーグ終盤に向けてはずみをつける意味でも、重要な一戦だ。

　今節の東京は前節の広島戦より8試合ぶりに金沢が先発出場。しかし加地の足が100パーセントの状態に戻っておらず、藤山が右サイドバックにスライド。ダブルボランチを今野と梶山が組み、右には戸田、中央に馬場、左には阿部吉、最前線にはルーカスという「3トップ（原監督）」の布陣。

　対するヴェルディは現在勝点26で17位。9月以降の6試合は、3敗の後、3分けで未勝利。今節はDF上村、MF小林大、FW平本が出場停止と、苦しい状況だが、中盤をダイヤモンド型に、これまでの3バックから4バックに変更した《東京対策》をとってきた。当然彼らにとっても絶対に負けられないという思いは変わりないはず。

　ヴェルディの攻撃のキーマンは、チームの全33得点中、21点を挙げているFWワシントン。そして彼と2トップを組むのは森本には注意が必要。「ワシントンの得点能力が高いのはもちろん、彼の周りで森本が絡んでくるだろう。森本は今季は出場機会があまりないが（出場15試合・フル出場は1試合のみ）、逆にモチベーションは高いはず。2人ともストライカーらしい選手で、一瞬でも目を離すと危険。しっかり対応していきたい」と原監督は話していた。これに対して東京は、シンプルに「タテに走る、裏を突く」ことで、ゴールへの活路を切り開く。

Winning With Speed 

F.C.TOKYO took on Tokyo Verdy 1969, the other club which makes it home at Ajinomoto Stadium, in the 28th. game of the season. TOKYO were unbeaten in five games ( W2 D3 ) and were looking forward to a solid performance and another three points as the year drew to a close. 
Kanazawa returned to the starting line up for the first time in 8 games. Kaji was still not 100% though and Fujiyama continued at right back. Konno and Kajiyama played as double defensive midfielders, with Toda on the right, Baba in the centre and Abe on the left of midfield. Lucas appeared as lone striker. 
Opponents Verdy were peering into the abyss of relegation in 17th. place, having taken only 3 points from a possible 18 in their previous six matches. Regular starters Uemura, Kobayashi and Hiramoto were all suspended. Manager Badon switched from their regular three man backline to a four man defence and a midfield diamond. The match was a must-win for the home side. 
The key man was Washington, the powerful striker responsible for 21 of the team's 33 goals this year. His forward combination with fleet youngster Morimoto would need careful attention from the TOKYO defence. Manager Hara commented, "Of course Washington is the dangerman but we will have to watch Morimoto as he hasn't had much opportunity to play this season and his motivation will be very high. Both can exploit the smallest opening". TOKYO's game plan was simple; "Straight running, behind their defence".

先制を許すも、梶山のミドルで同点に！

　ぐずついた天気の味の素スタジアム。試合は15時4分、東京のキックオフでスタートした。開始からともにプレスを掛けて激しくあたり合い、ボールの行き来が続いた。9分には左の阿部吉→中央のルーカスがパス交換から阿部吉がスペースに抜け出し、クロスを上げるが合わず。11分には左FKから右の藤山へ大きく展開。右クロスにルーカスが頭で合わせるが、タイミングが合わず。13分にはヴェルディが左SB相馬のクロスからCKを得る。これをつないで、再び相馬の左クロスにFWワシントンがヘディングシュートを放つが、バーを越えて事なきを得る。16分には、ヴェルディの速攻からMFジウの攻め上がりを許し、右からFW森本がシュート。ゴール右にきれた。

　一進一退の攻防の中で迎えた19分、ヴェルディの左サイドを相馬が駆け上がり、速いアーリークロスを上げる。土肥が前に出てパンチングで逃れるが、こぼれがゴール前に詰めていたFW森本にあたり、ゴールイン。一瞬の隙に、不運な形から先制点を許してしまった。だが東京も慌てず、速いパスワークから攻めに出る。特に金沢がよく攻撃に絡み、今野、梶山も果敢な攻め上がりをみせる。23分には今野のミドルシュートが相手DFにあたり、こぼれをエリア右で拾った戸田がシュート。24分には梶山が相手DFの間を縫うようにドリブルでゴール前まで上がりシュート。惜しくも右にきれた。27分には中央からのFKで、馬場→梶山のパスから阿部吉がヘッドでゴール前に落とすが、相手GKがキャッチ。

　30分を過ぎる頃からは、ヴェルディにチャンスをつくられることはほとんどなかったが、東京も攻勢に出ながらもフィニッシュに持ち込むことはなかなかできなかった。34分、金沢から馬場が左のスペースへ。エリアに抜けた阿部吉がクロス、中央に戸田が飛び込むが、合わせることができず。37分には金沢のクロスに合わせ、阿部吉がヘディングシュートするが、バーの上。39分には金沢からエリアに上がった今野にパス、CKを奪う。その左CKを馬場が速いボールを入れるが相手DFがクリア。左サイドを制し、チャンスをつくるがどうしてもゴールを割ることができなかった。

　だが43分、相手DFのこぼれを金沢が拾い、ルーカスへ。ルーカスはダイレクトで前に送り、上がってきた梶山が浮いたボールを胸トラップで落とし、意表をついてそのままシュート。右足のアウトにかけたボールは、右ポストをにあたり、跳ね返ってイン！　それまでも積極的にミドルシュートを打っていた梶山の狙いが功を奏し、前半終了間際に同点に追いついた！

Verdy Lead, Kajiyama Ties It 

F.C.TOKYO kicked off on a dull, grey afternoon at Ajinomoto Stadium. The game began with neither side able to retain possession for long due to some intense midfield pressure. In the 9th. minute Abe and Lucas exchanged passes allowing Abe space to cross but nothing came of it. TOKYO won a corner in the 13th. minute that Lucas headed over. Verdy sideback Soma then pierced the TOKYO defence down the left, winning a corner. Soma took it himself and picked out Washington who headed over from a very good position. Verdy took the lead in the 16th. minute when Morimoto forced home an early cross from Gil following a rapid break down the TOKYO left. Keeper Doi made contact with the ball first but it struck Morimoto and flew into the net. 
TOKYO took the setback with equanimity and continued to press forward with some fast passwork. Kanazawa, Konno and Kajiyama all lent their weight to the attack as TOKYO slowly began to dominate. In the 23rd. minute Konno hammered a shot that struck a Verdy defender and rebounded to Toda who fired over the bar. A minute later Kajiyama turned a defender inside out before striking a shot inches wide of the post. In the 27th. minute Takagi, the Verdy keeper, had to be alert to grab Abe's knock down. 
Verdy were unable to create any chances as TOKYO enjoyed the lion's share of the possession; despite this TOKYO failed to find a finish to match their smooth approach play. In the 34th. minute Toda failed to make contact with Abe's cross and then Abe nodded Kanazawa's chipped cross over the bar. TOKYO increased the pressure as half time approached, winning a series of corners, but again failing to take advantage of their opportunities. 
The breakthrough came in the 43rd. minute. Kanazawa picked up a loose ball in defence and fed Lucas. Lucas floated a pass to Kajiyama who took the ball on his chest and unleashed a volley, struck with the outside of his right boot, that curled past Takagi and nestled inside the right post. TOKYO entered half time on level terms.

ササの劇的な逆転ゴールで、東京決戦を制す！

　勝負を賭けた後半も激しい攻防は続き、互いに決定的なシーンはつくれないまま時間は経過。58分には、ヴェルディFWワシントン、森本がエリアに侵入、シュート体勢に入るが茂庭がことごとくカット。粘り強い守備をみせる。59分には戸田に代えて鈴木規を左MFに投入、阿部吉が右にまわる布陣に。これを機に東京は力強いプレーでヴェルディゴールに迫る。62分には自陣でボールを奪い、今野の攻め上がりから鈴木規がミドルシュート。ジャストミートしなかったが、シュートに対する意識が増していった。64分にはルーカスのポストから馬場がシュート体勢に入るもミートせず。

　65分、ヴェルディはMF戸田に代えてMF久場を投入。続いて東京も66分にルーカスに代えてササを投入。ササにボールを集め、思い切って攻めに出るが、前掛かりになり、逆にヴェルディのカウンターをくらう場面も増えてきた。70分にはヴェルディDF相馬の左クロスにMFジウが飛び込むピンチも、東京DFがしっかりマークして守りきる。73分には茂庭が中盤のルーズボールに猛然とダッシュ。気迫あふれるプレーでチームを鼓舞した。その直後の74分には、梶山の展開から阿部吉が右エリアからシュート。GKのこぼれにササ、鈴木規も詰めるがわずかにとどかず、チャンスを逃した。

　ヴェルディも反撃にでる。74分にはゴール前にスルーパスをとおされるが、土肥がスライディングでクリア。75分、ヴェルディMF平野が放ったミドルシュートは右ポストをたたく。76分には速攻を受けたが、左にフリーで上がってきたMFジウのシュートは、バーを越えて事なきを得る。

　東京は83分、梶山から左の鈴木規へ。クロスのこぼれをゴール正面で馬場が受け、ワントラップしてシュートするが、わずかに右にきれ、再びビッグチャンスを逃す…。85分には、ササのミドルシュートを相手GKがセーブ、左CKに。馬場のキックを相手DFが触り茂庭の前にこぼれるが、足でのシュートは浮いてしまった。ピッチをワイドに使ったサッカーでチャンスをつくり出すも、どうしても追加点はならず。引き分けの気配もよぎった。

　だが、ピッチの上ではあきらめない戦いが続いていた。87分、右エリアすぐ外で阿部吉が倒され、FKを得る。ここで馬場に代わり栗澤がイン。FKは鈴木規が直接狙ったが、左に流れてしまう。そしてロスタイム2分の表示が出た直後のことだった。ササに送ったボールを相手DFがクリア、そのこぼれを梶山がヘディングでつなぎフリーの栗澤へ。栗澤は前が空いているとみるやドリブルで突進。相手が詰めてくる中でDFを引きつけ、右のササへパス。ササはエリアに入ったところで迷わずシュート！　角度のないところからのシュートであったが、ボールは相手GKとニアの間＝右ポストをかすめるように巻いてゴールイン!!　終了間際の劇的なゴールで逆転を果たした。試合はこの直後にタイムアップ。最後まであきらめず、果敢に攻めに出た結果の勝利。チーム一丸となった戦いで東京決戦を制した。

　【選手コメント】《梶山》「(ゴールは)チャンスがあればシュートを打てと言われていたので自然に打てた。相手が詰めてきたので、とにかく枠に飛ばそうと、アウトにかけて蹴った。ポストに当たった瞬間、入ったと思った。これまで得点をあまり取れていないにも関わらず、監督が使い続けてくれていたので、それに応える事ができてよかったと思う。ヴェルディとの試合は、応援もすごいし、チームもスタッフも気持ちが入っている。サポーターの声援にも応えたかったし、負けたくなかった。今後も、今日のようにゴールに絡めるプレーをしていけたらいいなと思っている」《ササ》「ダービーマッチというのは常に難しい試合だと思う。今日の試合はロスタイムで勝つことができて、運もあったと思うが、私たちみんなでがんばったことが非常によかった。(ゴールは)空中戦で陽平がこぼれ球を拾い、栗澤にボールが流れ、そこからパスがきたので、思い切りシュートを打った。時間帯の事もありシュートを打つしかないと思った。(先発ではなかったが？)どの選手も、最初から最後までやりたいという気持ちがあるが、決めるのは監督。私たちは監督の下でプレーしていて、必要であれば、どんな時間、どんな入り方でも結果をだすために練習をしなくてはいけないと思っている。パラグアイにもダービーマッチはあったが、ほとんど勝利していた記憶がある。日本で初めてとなった今日も勝ててよかった。たくさんの声援が聞こえたので力になった。ファンの方々の声援があったからこそ私も力が出せた。ありがとう」

　【原監督の会見要旨】「ヴェルディの最近の試合のビデオをかなり見たが、決して悪くなく、むしろいいサッカーをしていると思っていた。特にチームの大黒柱であるFWワシントンにボールが入り、少しでも隙を与えると彼には一仕事をする力がある。だからまずワシントンにボールを入れさせないようにした。ヴェルディは出場停止選手も多く、システムを変えてきた。森本は久々のスタメンで、モチベーションが高いはずで、彼が一番嫌だった。失点は、DF林から長いボールを展開され、FW森本とワシントンのマークがずれてしまった。ただ失点以外では、茂庭とジャーンがうまく対応してくれたと思う。攻撃は3トップでスタートさせたが、阿部吉をわざと中に入れさせた。そうするとヴェルディ右SBの山田がついてきて、右MF小林慶が守備のカバーにいかざるを得ない。そこに金沢や梶山、今野などを絡ませ、左サイドを使おうとした。しかし我々が前掛かりになることで、逆にヴェルディの左SB相馬やMFジウが出てきて、カウンターを受けることもあった。それは恐かったが、勝負を賭けていくために仕掛けていった。またヴェルディはゴール前を固めているので、ミドルシュートを打てと指示していた。まだ数は少ないが、1点目の得点は狙いどおり。梶山は素晴らしいシュート力があるのに、パスばかりしている部分があったが、素晴らしいシュートが入ってよかった。今日は今野とコンビを組ませるもう1人のボランチに、宮沢と梶山のどちらを使うか迷ったが、中盤で激しく競り合う試合になると思ったので、フィジカルの強い梶山にした。それが成功したと思う。後半、勝負を賭けるために鈴木規をいれて、左からクロスをあげさせる作戦にした。クロスなど、攻撃は良かったが、反対に守備の切り替えが遅くなった。悪い形で奪われてカウンターを受け、一進一退の感じになってしまった。ルーカスもよくなってはいるが、ゴール前で体を張って点を取る形にはなっていないので、ササを入れて『シンプルにクロスを入れてこぼれ球を拾うサッカー』を徹底させた。馬場もがんばっていたが、惜しいチャンスを外し、その時間で栗澤と交代させた。三浦を入れて後ろでバランスをとらせ、梶山を前にあげる事も考えたが、下手に守るよりは点を取りにいった。栗澤が短い時間でもパスを散らし、エリアの中でササを活かす得意な形を作った。ササの一番いいところはストライカーらしいエリア内でのプレー。まだ日本での経験が足りず、Jリーグに迷いもあるだろうが、ミドルシュートやヘディングの強さなど、エリア内だけで仕事をさせれば、ワシントンに負けないくらいの点取り屋としての素質がある。今日はアウェーゲームだったが、我々のサポーターの方が多く集まってくれ、なんとしてでも勝点3を取りたいという気持ちがあった。サポーターの声援や、出場しなかった選手、スタッフを含め、みんなの勝ちたい気持ちが最後のササの1点につながった」

　【ヴェルディ・バドン監督の会見要旨】「ダービーというのは、今日の試合のように、終盤のちょっとしたチャンスから得点が生まれる傾向がある。試合を通して見ると、FC東京の方がいいマークができていてパフォーマンスがよかった。中盤でのマークが特に厳しく、セカンドボールを拾われてしまった。そしてハーフウェイラインまで引いて、我々のミスを待つというやり方を予想していたが、そのとおりの事をされた。もちろん我々にとってもいい時間もあったが、90分通して見ると、FC東京の方がいい試合をしていた。(今日は左サイドは相馬が突破していたが、全体としてのサイド攻撃は変わっていない印象を受けるが？)そのとおり。サイドを活かすために、通常は3バックで両ウイングを作るが、今日はDF李と米山がケガ、上村も出場停止だったので、センターバックがいなかったため、システムを変えた。相馬、平野、ジウと、3人の左利きがいたので、右サイドより左サイドで形を作ることができた。それを考えれば、左サイドが機能するのは自然なこと。そして後半は久場を入れて、右サイドからチャンスを作れるかと思ったが、あまりうまくいかなかった」

Sasa Snatches Dramatic Winner

The second period began in the same fashion as the first with neither side able to create a clear opening. In the 58th. minute Washington and Morimoto infiltrated the TOKYO defence but were blocked by Moniwa's resolute tackling. In the 59th. minute Suzuki replaced Toda and Abe moved to the right. Suzuki made an immediate impact, blazing a shot wide of the post in the 63rd. minute. 
Verdy were forced to send on Kuba for the injured Toda in the 65th. minute and TOKYO responded by exchanging Lucas for Sasa Salcedo. The switch allowed Verdy some opportunities to counter attack; in the 70th. minute Soma crossed and the onrushing Gil made contact but the TOKYO defence dealt with the danger. In the 73rd. minute Moniwa picked up the ball and made a surging run through midfield that served to lift the team and brought roars from the crowd. In the 74th. Minute Kajiyama set up Abe and Takagi was unable to hold his shot; Sasa and Suzuki pounced but neither managed to make contact with the ball and yet another chance was wasted. 
Verdy pushed forward and created chances as the game entered the final phase. Doi slid out to clear a through pass, Hirano rattled the post with a long range effort and Gil fired over the bar from a good position. 
Baba had a clear chance to settle the match in the 83rd. minute as he collected a poor clearance on his chest just outside the area. A neat flick took the ball past a defender but he screwed his shot just wide of the post. Sasa unleashed a long range shot in the 85th. Minute that seemed to surprise Takagi and the keeper fumbled the ball around the post for a corner. A Verdy defender directed the ball into the path of Moniwa whose instantaneous volley flew wide. TOKYO was using the full width of the pitch but just couldn't get the ball into the net. The match seemed destined for a draw. 
The players weren't giving up though. In the 87th. minute TOKYO won a free kick in a promising position; Suzuki hammered it wide. TOKYO then replaced Baba with Kurisawa. Two minutes of injury time had just been announced when the fate of the game was sealed. A long ball aimed at Sasa had been cleared but only as far as Kajiyama who headed it to the unmarked Kurisawa. Kurisawa raced into space in the heart of the Verdy half, drawing defenders before expertly slipping the ball to Sasa on his right. Sasa met the ball first time with a rasping low drive from a tight angle that bisected Takagi and the near post. TOKYO had made a dramatic comeback and taken the lead with virtually the last kick of the match. The final whistle blew shortly after on a famous victory. It was a victory for perseverance, team play and character. 


Players' comments 
Kajiyama 
"We were told to shoot if we had a chance so I just had a go. Verdy players were closing me down and I hit it with the outside of my boot. When I saw it hit the post I knew it was going in. The manager has continued to select me even though I haven't been scoring so I'm very pleased to be able to repay that faith with a goal. The support is amazing for these games against Verdy and the players and staff are always highly motivated. We really wanted to answer the fans support and not lose the game. I think it would be very good if I could continue to score goals like today's ". 

Sasa 
"Derby matches are always difficult games. Today's game was won in injury time which takes some luck, but it's down to everybody's hard work. For the goal, Yohei ( Kajiyama ) headed a high ball down to Kurisawa who passed it out to me and I just hit it. Considering the time left in the game there wasn't much else I could do. As for not being in the starting line up, all players want to be on the field from the start to the finish but the manager decides these things. We play under his direction and have to practice for any eventuality. My memory of playing in Derby matches in Paraguay is very good as we usually won so I'm delighted to win in my first in Japan. I'd like to thank the fans for their terrific support today; it really gave me a great boost". 


TOKYO manager Hara 
"I watched videos of Verdy's recent games and they weren't bad at all, they played some decent football. In particular Washington is a very dangerous player; give him an inch of space and he'll have the ball in the net. So we had to stop him getting any service at all today. Verdy had a few players missing and had completely changed their system. Morimoto hadn't played for a while so we expected him to be highly motivated today. He and Washington had slipped their markers for the goal but apart from that Moniwa and Jean dealt with them very well today. We played three up front and deliberately pushed Abe further into the middle, forcing the Verdy sideback Yamada to go with him and making the right sided midfielder Kobayashi work as defensive cover. That freed up space for Konno, Kajiyama and Kanazawa and allowed us to attack down the left. When we pushed forward it allowed Gil and Soma to counter attack though. That was dangerous but if we wanted to win the game we had to take a calculated gamble. Also, as Verdy packed their defence I told the players to shoot from distance. The first goal went just as we had planned. That was a fantastic shot from Kajiyama; he usually passes the ball but made the correct decision to shoot. I was torn between playing Kajiyama or Miyazawa alongside Konno but went with Kajiyama as we expected a very physical game. That was the right decision I think. We sent on Suzuki to provide crosses from the left flank. We attacked well today but were a little slow in switching from attack to defence and that allowed Verdy to counter attack. Lucas didn't look like scoring so we sent on Sasa with a simple plan to hit in crosses and pick up the loose balls. Baba played well but missed a good chance so we replaced him with Kurisawa. We could have sent Miura on to balance the defence but decided to go for the winner and so we used Kurisawa. He only played for a few minutes but made some good passes and created the winning goal. Sasa is at his best playing as an out-and-out striker in the box. He has only been here for a while and still lacks experience with the team but his shooting and heading ability are first class. If he plays entirely in the box he has the quality to be an even better striker than Washington. We were "away" today but had a massive support and that made us determined to go for the three points. The desire of the fans, the staff and all the players who couldn't play today to win were present in Sasa's winning goal". 

Verdy manager Badon 
"Games like these have a tendancy to be decided by just one small chance. Looking at the match TOKYO played well and marked better. The midfield was particularly tough and we lost out on the loose balls. They played as we had expected, pulling back and waiting for us to make mistakes. We had some good periods but overall TOKYO were the better team. We were suffering with injuries and had to change the system completely. We made much more progress on the left than the right side. We sent on Kuba but things didn't really improve on the right".
