勝利で締めくくりたいホーム最終戦

　第33節はホームに川崎フロンターレを迎え撃つ。早いもので、リーグ戦も残すところ2試合。チームは第23節より負けなしで好調を維持しているが、厳しい連戦の中でホーム最終戦を迎えることとなった。今節も勢いのあるサッカーを見せ、ファンの1年をとおしたサポートに応える意味でも、勝利で締めくくりたい一戦だ。

　しかし、前節新潟戦でルーカスが足を負傷。馬場も膝に違和感が残るとのことで、欠場。ササが9月25日大分戦以来、8試合ぶりの先発でトップに入り、トップ下は前節と同じく栗澤が務める布陣で臨むことに。原監督は、ササの先発について「いまの東京のよさは、前からいく積極的なサッカーにある。チームはずっとルーカスのリズムに慣れていたが、ササには『主導権をとってボールの方向さえ決めてくれればいいと。ササが動けば後ろが動く。あとは点を取るだけ』と指示した」と話していた。DFラインには加地が復帰。藤山が左サイドバックに入り、金沢は連戦のコンディションを考慮し、ベンチスタートとなった。

　対する川崎は現在勝ち点49で6位。第29節からは1勝3敗と、少々調子が下降しているようだが、東京にとって上位との対戦。難しいゲームになる可能性がある。警戒すべきはスピードのある攻撃陣だ。「特にFWジュニーニョは前を向かせると怖い。FW我那覇やMFマルクスとのコンビプレーもあるし、そこにMFアウグストらが絡んでくる。彼らにできるだけボールを出させないように、全体で前からプレスをかけていきたい」と原監督も気持ちを引き締める。

　攻撃では、川崎の箕輪、寺田をはじめとする高いDFを相手に、単に放り込むだけでなく、グラウンダーやGKとDFの間に速いボールを送るなど、工夫が必要。スピードのある阿部吉、鈴木規らも積極的に仕掛けていきたいところだ。監督以下選手も「東京のサッカーで熱い試合をして勝ちたい」と意気込む。今季最後の味スタでのホームゲームは、15時3分、川崎のキックオフでスタートした。

Signing Off With A Win 

Kawasaki Frontale was the visitor to Ajinomoto Stadium for the final home league game of the season. TOKYO was unbeaten in 10 games and aiming for a third consecutive win in six days to thank the fans for their superb support over the year. 
Lucas and Baba were both suffering from knocks picked up in the win over Albirex on Wednesday and were unable to start. Sasa Salcedo returned to the starting eleven for the first time in 8 games with Kurisawa in a withdrawn role between midfield and the lone striker. TOKYO manager Hara commented, "The team is playing positive football from the front at the moment and has become used to playing to Lucas' rhythm. We told Sasa to go out and dominate, to seize the initiative and move the ball around. If he moves well then the players behind will, also. After that it's just a matter of scoring goals". Kaji returned at right back, Fujiyama moved to left back and Kanazawa began on the bench. 
Frontale lay in 6th. place on 49 points at kick off. Despite losing three out of the last four games the side was fast, strong and posed a serious attacking threat. "Juninho is particularly dangerous if he gets the ball facing the goal", went on Hiromi Hara, "forward Ganaha and midfielder Marcus have a good understanding and Augusto likes to get forward when possible. We have to keep the ball away from them as much as possible and press hard from the front". 
The Kawasaki defenders are tall so a simple long ball game would make little impact; TOKYO needed something more subtle, like using the speed of Abe and Suzuki on the flanks to send early, low crosses into the "zone of uncertainty" between the defence and goalkeeper. "We want to play an exciting game and take the three points," commented manager Hara. The visitors kicked off under a clear blue sky shortly after 3pm. 

守備の甘さを突かれ、先制を許す

　序盤から、ボールを支配して攻めに出る東京、鋭いカウンターからチャンスを狙う川崎と、お互いの持ち味を発揮しようとした。7分には、左サイド深くでボールをキープした鈴木規からエリア内のササへ短いグラウンダーのパス。ササが強引に狙うが、川崎DFがブロック。9分には阿部吉が右サイドからドリブルで上がりシュート。11分には30m以上のFKを梶山が直接狙ったが、いずれも枠を捉えられなかった。

　川崎は、16分に右サイドからMF中村がクロス。東京DFのクリアボールをMFマルクスが落とし、FWジュニーニョがシュート。ゴールを外れて事なきを得る。18分にはDF寺田の攻撃参加から、FWジュニーニョとMFマルクスがワンツーをかわして東京ゴールに迫るが、茂庭がしっかり抑えた。20分を過ぎる頃から、川崎はDF寺田がボランチに上がり、両ウィングがDFに回る4バックへ移行。

　そして22分、左に流れた川崎FW我那覇が右へ大きくサイドチェンジ。受けたMF中村は、ゆっくりドリブルで中に進み、シュートコースがあいていると見るや、右エリア外からシュート。これが決まり、東京は先制を許す。川崎は東京の守備が甘くなった隙を見逃さなかった。

　リズムをつかみ、試合を優位に進める川崎。これに対し、東京は28分過ぎに阿部吉とササの2トップに、栗澤を右に配する布陣に。29分には鈴木規の左クロスを栗澤がエリア内で受け、ドリブル突破を相手DFに当たられ倒れるが、ノーファール。31分には鈴木規の左CKからジャーンがヘッドで合わせるが、バーの上へ。34分にはエリア前でササが倒され、絶好の位置でのFKを得る。鈴木規をおとりに、ササ自身が直接狙ったが、川崎DFの壁に阻まれてCKに。このCKをつなぎ、栗澤がエリア外からシュート。DFの跳ね返りを、加地がミドルから狙うが、枠を捉えることはできなかった。結局、決定的なチャンスはつくれず、1点ビハインドのまま後半へと折り返した。

Defensive Uncertainty Allows Frontale Lead

The game began with both sides playing to their strengths: TOKYO moved the ball around, using the width of the pitch and probing for an opening while Frontale defended stoutly and bided their time waiting for counter attacking opportunities. In the 7th. minute Suzuki took the ball down the left and crossed low to Sasa, whose shot was blocked. Abe then raced down the right wing and shot in the 9th. minute. Kajiyama blasted a free kick over the bar from 30 metres out in the 11th. minute. 
In the 16th. minute Nakamura crossed from the right and the TOKYO defence cleared the ball, but only to Marcus. Marcus nodded the ball into the path of Juninho who shot powerfully but wide. Moniwa made a superb tackle to dispossess Juninho in the 20th minute after a one two between the striker and Marcus on the edge of the TOKYO area had created a clear opening. In the 20th. minute Frontale defender Terada moved forward into a defensive midfield position while the two wing backs withdrew into a four man backline. 
In the 22nd. minute Ganaha took the ball down the TOKYO right wing before sending a long crossfield pass out to Nakamura on the right. Nakamura dribbled infield, looking for a clear sight of goal then unleashed a powerful drive that flew inside the far post to give his team an early lead. The visitors had exploited a chink in TOKYO's defensive armour. 
Kawasaki found their rhythm and began to dominate the game. TOKYO responded by moving Kurisawa out to the right wing and Abe into a striker's role alongside Sasa. In the 29th. minute Suzuki latched onto Kurisawa's cross and burst into the Frontale area before a clumsy tackle sent him to ground. The referee waved play on. Jean headed Suzuki's corner over the bar in the 31st. minute. In the 34th. minute TOKYO won a free kick in an excellent position just outside the Frontale area. Suzuki dummied over the ball and Sasa clipped a curler that took a deflection and sailed past the post with Aizawa, in the Kawasaki goal, stranded. Kurisawa hammered a shot against a defender from the resulting corner and Kaji blazed the loose ball over the bar. TOKYO failed to find an equaliser and the first half finished 0-1. 

ササの2試合連続弾で追いつくも、ドローに終わる

　後半は一進一退の攻防が続いた。47分には、左サイド鈴木規のクロスにササがヘディングシュート。48分には川崎FWジュニーニョがドリブルシュート。51分には川崎MF谷口がミドルレンジからゴールを狙い、土肥が枠の上へ弾き出す。52分には栗澤のスルーパスから、鈴木規がドルブルで一気にゴール前へ。ファーストシュートの跳ね返りをオーバーヘッド気味に狙うが、ゴールは割れず。56分、川崎FW我那覇→ゴール前のFWジュニーニョのシュートは土肥が素晴らしい反応でセーブ。

　57分には栗澤に代えて戸田を投入。その後、阿部吉と鈴木規が左右のポジションを入れ替わり、なんとかこう着した状況を打破しようとする。しかし、ペースを握れないまま時間は流れ、70分には梶山に代えて宮沢を投入。72分には鈴木規が左サイドを破り、中央へ低いクロス。ゴールを背に受けた戸田が反転してシュート。しかしキーパーの正面を突く。75分には加地に代えて金沢を投入。藤山が右にシフトした。この積極的な交代策が功を奏し、東京はリズムをつかみ始める。直後に、宮沢の長いFKから今野がシュートするが、相手GKにキャッチされる。

　77分にはFKからCKと粘り強く川崎ゴールに迫る。迎えた78分、宮沢の右CKをファーで鈴木規が受けるが、ボールが浮き一度は相手DFにわたる。このクリアを拾った金沢がゴール前にクロス。これを攻め残っていたジャーンがヘッドで競り、ゴール正面に折り返す。ここに走りこんだササがヘディングで押し込みゴール！　前節に続くササの2試合連続弾で、ようやく同点に追いついた!!

　ここから勢いをみせる東京。82分には金沢のクロスから左CKを奪い、ササが再びヘディングシュート。84分にはエリア右角付近から阿部吉が戻したボールに、走りこんだ戸田がダイレクトでシュート。85分には左から中央へ切れ込んだ金沢が右足で鋭いミドルシュート。わずかに右外に。86分には鈴木規のシュートがDFにあたり、CKへ。42分にも今野がシュートを放つが、川崎DFがブロック。

　それでもあきらめず猛攻を仕掛け、88分には鈴木規が川崎のマーカー3人を引きずりながらもサイドからドリブル突破を仕掛ける。だが、わずかに長くなったボールはGKがキャッチ。続いて、阿部吉のシュートもバーの上。ラストは多くの選手がエリア内になだれ込み、最後までゴールを狙うが打ち切れず、タイムアップ。どうしても川崎の固い守備を崩すことができず、ドローに終わり、勝ち点1を得るにとどまった。

　なお、今節の結果により、セレッソ大阪が首位に。最終節はこのC大阪とアウェーで対戦する。ホームでの1年間の感謝をするとともに、勝利をめざし最終節まで戦い抜く。

　【選手コメント】《ササ》「フロンターレが引き気味ということもあって、スペースがなく、難しい試合だった。今年1年間たくさんのサポーターが来てくれていたので、ゴールを決めてぜひ勝ちたかったが。(ここまでを振り返り)個人的にはよかったと思う。2試合連続でゴールも決めることができた。だんだんと日本のサッカーにも慣れてきた。来季はもっとチームに馴染んで、良い成績を挙げたいと思う。自分はゴールを決める役目なのでもっとゴールも決めたい」《金沢》「負けている状況だったので、自分が入り、流れを変えたいと思った。ゴールの場面は、高さのあるジャーンがフリーで走りこんでいるのが見えたので、放り込んだ。(終盤に惜しいシュートもあったが？)あれが入ってれば一番よかったのだが。ホーム最終戦だったので、引き分けで残念だが、最後はみんな気持ちが前に出ていたので攻め込めた。ただ、そこで1点が取れるのと取れないのでは、大きな差がある。こういう試合を勝たなければいけない。最終節は相手のほうが難しい状況だと思うので、思いきったプレーをして勝ちたい」

　【原監督の会見要旨】「ホーム最終戦で、今年苦しい時期も温かく応援に来てくれたサポーターのためにも、勝って飾りたかった。前半は、川崎が早めに帰陣してゴール前を固めてきて、そこをうまく崩せなかった。ササを先発で使ったが、誰が悪いというわけではないが、やはりササの近くにはもう1人FWがいたほうがよいと考え、前半20分過ぎに阿部吉を中央へ、栗澤を右へ持っていった。そのほうがバランスがよかった。先制されたが、ハーフタイムには、もう少しシンプルにサイドを使おうと。また川崎は後方に選手を多く置いているので、梶山らにはもっと前へ出て行けと指示を出した。しかしなかなかゲームが動かず、途中から戸田、宮沢、金沢と攻撃が得意な選手を入れて、点を取りに行った。1点は狙い通りに取れたし、攻撃的な姿勢は最後まで出ていたと思うが、あと1点が遠く、勝ち点3は取れなかった。選手の相手ゴールに向かっていく姿勢や、勝ち点3を取りたいという気持ちは伝わってきたと思う。ルーカス、馬場をケガで欠き、その中で代わって出場した選手が頑張ってくれた。特にに宮沢などは、ここのところ控えにも入っていなかったが、やはり宮沢には宮沢の良さがあり、戸田、金沢も途中からでもよくやってくれた。我々のチームは誰が出場しても大丈夫だとあらためて確認した。いま(最終節の対戦相手の)C大阪が首位に立ったということを知った。アウェーで、かつ相手は好調だと聞いているが、我々も現在負けていない。加地、ササは警告累積で出場できないが、正々堂々と戦っていきたい」

　【川崎・関塚監督の会見要旨】「勝てなかったのは非常に残念だったが、3連戦の3戦目、我々にとっては内容の濃い試合ができたのではないかと思う。疲れている中でしっかりボールをつなぎながら、前線の攻撃の3人を活かすサッカーを展開できた。前半、相手が3トップだったので、我々は寺田をひとつ前に上げての戦いに変えていった。それによって東京が2トップに変えてきたので、我々の本来の3バックの形に戻した。そのあたりのトレーニングの時間は少なかったが、選手はスムーズに順応してくれた。そういう意味で、システム変更もうまく行くようになったし、チャンスも多く作り出していた。だが、もう1点が取れなかったことが勝ち点1という結果につながった。しかし、勝ち点を50に乗せたことは非常に価値があること。また今日は相馬が右のサイドバック、ウイングバックとしてよい仕事をしてくれたと思う」

Sasa's Late Goal Earns Draw 

The second half ebbed and flowed. Sasa connected with Suzuki's cross in the 47th. minute, Juninho dribbled forward and shot in the 49th. and Doi produced a good save to tip Taniguchi's dipping shot over the bar in the 51st. Suzuki ran onto Kurisawa's through ball in the 52nd. minute and shot from a narrow angle; Aizawa blocked the strike with his body and Suzuki attempted an overhead kick at the rebound but directed the ball into the side netting. In the 56th. minute Ganaha found Juninho inside the area but Doi again produced a fine save to deny Kawasaki a second goal. 
TOKYO replaced Kurisawa with Toda in the 57th. minute while Suzuki and Abe switched sides in an attempt to open the game up. The tactic failed to produce a breakthrough and TOKYO then brought on Miyazawa for Kajiyama in the 70th. minute. In the 72nd. minute Suzuki burst down the left and centred low to Toda; Toda shot first time but straight at the keeper. Kanazawa replaced Kaji in the 75th. minute with Fujiyama moving to the right back position. These changes proved effective and TOKYO began to find their rhythm. Aizawa held Konno's shot following a long free kick from Miyazawa. 
TOKYO began to exert severe pressure on the Kawasaki goal. In the 77th. minute a free kick and a corner allowed the home side to push men into the visitors area; the Kawasaki defence cleared Suzuki's cross from the corner out to Kanazawa on the left. Kanazawa curled a deep cross back in to Jean beyond the far post. Jean headed the ball back into the centre and Sasa burst between two defenders to head past Aizawa for the equalising goal. Sasa's second goal in two games had tied the score and revitalised the home side. 
In the 82nd. minute Kanazawa's cross earned a corner that Sasa made contact with and in the 84th. minute Abe set up Toda for a shot from the edge of the area. In the 85th. minute Kanazawa burst inside from the left wing and struck a screaming drive into the side netting. Suzuki's shot hit a defender and sailed out for a corner in the 86th. minute and Konno had a shot blocked a minute later. Suzuki then took on and beat three defenders but Aizawa held his cross cleanly. Abe fired over the bar as the game moved into injury time. TOKYO flung men forward into the Kawasaki penalty area but were unable to find the winning goal and the game finished 1-1. 
Following the penultimate round of games Cerezo Osaka topped the table; TOKYO faced the league leaders in the final game of the year and would be going all out to end the season with a win.

Sasa 
"Frontale defended deeply and there was little space to work in so it was a tough game. I wanted to score and win the game for the many fans who came and supported us during the year. For myself, I think I've been playing quite well. I've scored in two consecutive games and I feel I'm slowly getting used to Japanese football. Next year I want to become more familiar with the team and post a better record. It's my job to score so I hope to contribute more goals next year". 

Kanazawa 
"We were losing when I went on so I was determined to change the flow of the game. For the goal, I spotted Jean making a run unmarked behind the defence so I aimed the ball towards him. I had a shot late on and if it had gone in it would have been perfect. It was the last home game so we wanted to win, of course, but towards the end of the game we got players forward and gave it everything. There's very big difference between scoring and not scoring, though. This is the kind of game we really have to win. The last game will be a difficult one for our oppnents so we're hoping to put in a good performance and take the three points". 


TOKYO manager Hara 
"Today was the final home game so we wanted to win to repay the fans who supported us so warmly through the difficult period earlier in the season. Kawasaki really pressured us from the start and we held off their attacks very well. Sasa started but it became obvious he needed another forward playing alongside him so we moved Abe infield and put Kurisawa on the right wing. The balance was much better. At half time we told the players to keep it simple and use the wings more. Kawasaki had packed their defence so we tried to have Kajiyama push forward. We couldn't really make any great headway so we sent on the more attack minded players in Toda, Miyazawa and Kanazawa in search of a goal. We got the goal and then went for the winner but came up short at the end. Lucas and Baba were injured but their replacements played well. In particular Miyazawa, who hasn't even been on the bench for a while, added his own individual talents to the game and put in a good performance today. It showed that no matter who plays we can perform well as a team. Our last game is against Cerezo Osaka, the league leaders, who are in good form now I hear. Sasa and Kaji will be suspended but we hope to give a good account of ourselves". 

Kawasaki Frontale manager Sekizuka 
"It was disappointing that we didn't win but, considering it was the third game in six days, I think we played well today. The players were tired but moved the ball around smoothly and brought the forward three into the game. Our opponents switched to a three man forward line in the first half so we moved Terada forward into a defensive midfield position. TOKYO then changed to a two striker system and we reverted to a three back defence. We weren't able to spend much time practising that in training but the players made the transition comfortably and we could still create chances. We couldn't score the vital second goal though, and that's ultimately what cost us two points today. Still, to reach 50 points for the season is a great achievement. Soma had an excellent game at side back and wing back today".
